| Properties Of LNG |
| |
 |
Once the natural gas is cooled under –162°C under atmospheric pressure, it condensates and goes into liquid phase. As a result, it is called “Liquefied Natural Gas”.

 |
The volume of natural gas decreases 600 times when it goes into liquid phase. Hence great amounts of natural gas can be transported and stored in liquefied phase under low pressure. This makes it convenient to transport natural gas by means of transportation tanks to destinations where technically and economically transmission via pipelines is not possible.

Specific weight of liquid phase of LNG is 0,46. Namely, it is roughly half of the specific weight of water. The weight of LNG put into a container the geometric volume of which is 1 m³ (1.000 lt) is 460 kg. |

LNG is colorless, odorless and is not poisonous. It does not have any corrosive feature. Mixture rate of LNG in the air is between the rates of 5% and 15% and it is inflammable and combustive. |
